Fee-first verdict
Use Gumroad to validate. Recheck Podia as soon as sales become regular.
Gumroad's zero subscription is hard to beat before launch. Its direct-sale fee is 10% + $0.50 before payment processing, so Podia Mover can become cheaper at surprisingly low volume. At a $100 product price, the two tie at six direct sales per month before processor fees.

What the fee buys
Gumroad simplifies commerce; Podia builds more of the business
Gumroad may fit when
- You want to validate one course or download quickly.
- A monthly subscription would be wasteful before demand exists.
- Merchant-of-record tax handling is a major priority.
- A simple product page and delivery flow are enough.
Podia may fit when
- You want courses, downloads, coaching, community, and email together.
- A full website and blog should live on the same platform.
- Your regular sales make Gumroad's per-sale fee expensive.
- You want a 30-day trial to build before paying.
Global creator check
Do not assume checkout access guarantees a usable payout
Gumroad says payout method varies by country and that it does not support alternative payout methods such as Payoneer or Wise. Podia sends sales through the creator's connected Stripe account, or PayPal on Shaker. Before building either storefront, confirm the account, currency, identity, and withdrawal route available in your country.
